Friday Duet Adele and Darius Rucker

The title cut from Country music group Lady Antebellum’s second album “I Need You Now” was a big hit. This was the first released tune from their second album.

A tribute to lonely night longing – it has been recorded by several notables, including Darius Rucker and Adele.

Members of Lady Antebellum have said they enjoy watching YouTube fan renditions of their tune, basking in the, “greatest form of flattery,” glory as they tour the country.

“I Need You Now” reached the Billboard Hot 100 list as a Country song – the first to do so from that genre since the Dixie Chicks did it in 2007 with “Not Ready to Make Nice.”

With all of her recent success, Adele joining Rucker is an interesting pairing. Their voices make for a not-so-typical offering in a live setting. Gifted and unique, she brings a raw power to everything she sings. Her fame is growing here in the states and who knows the heights she will eventually reach in her budding career.

Rucker, beginning as the front man for Hootie and the Blowfish has stepped out on his own recently, finding new followers and acclaim along the way.

Share your thoughts on the performance – I’d love your contributions to the discussion.

BTW…This performance is from the CMT Awards program in 2010.

I Need You Now

Co-written by Lady Antebellum and Josh Kear

Picture perfect memories,

Scattered all around the floor.

Reaching for the phone cause, I can’t fight it anymore.

And I wonder if I ever cross your mind.

For me it happens all the time.

It’s a quarter after one, I’m all alone and I need you now.

Said I wouldn’t call, but I lost all control and I need you now.

And I don’t know how I can do without, I just need you now.

Another shot of whiskey, can’t stop looking at the door.

Wishing you’d come sweeping in the way you did before.

And I wonder if I ever cross your mind.

For me it happens all the time.

It’s a quarter after one, I’m a little drunk,

And I need you now.

Said I wouldn’t call but I lost all control and I need you now.

And I don’t know how I can do without, I just need you now.

Yes I’d rather hurt than feel nothing at all.

It’s a quarter after one, I’m all alone and I need you now.

And I said I wouldn’t call but I’m a little drunk and I need you now.

And I don’t know how I can do without, I just need you now.

I just need you now.

Oh baby I need you now.
